Coaches refer to players all the time as being "just a winner". Doesn't mean he is the best player on the team, it is generally just his attitude and work ethic thank earns them this saying. I figured you of all people who enjoy sports as much as you do would understand this. I know you have a huge dislike for JJ Re**** and that is fine but everyone that plays with him in Orlando enjoy him as a teamate and he earns praise from all his coaches, GM, and other players for his work he puts in and his willingness to learn and make himself a better player.
I have never once said he is the best player in the NBA, heck he isn't even the 2nd best SG on his own team. I just like Re****, he is my favorite player, always has been. Don't be mad because he outplayed Blake this year, lol.

lol, ****
Its a team sport. Stars need role players, and role players need stars. JJ could sit on the bench, never play a minute, and get a ring playing for the Lakers. It wouldnt change who he is as a player, just like Gasol, Artest, Odom, Fisher, etc. They didnt magically improve their games, they just ended up with more opportunities. Dont be surprised if Mario Chalmers and Mike Miller have career years in the next few seasons and become winners.
I actually think you could argue Gasol wasn't a winner. He had to grow into it. Compare how he played in his first Finals versus the last two. He had to become one. You really couldn't use the Fisher comparison in Utah because he hit big shots to advance them into the playoffs while there and already had rings in LA, and without him they don't even make the Finals once at least.

JJ is a solid player, no doubt. Now is he worth 20 mil? Not a chance, no 9 and 2 player is worth that, esp. one that performs under that come playoff time. I was floored the Magic matched it, I was dead wrong, but I think they're trying to not dismantle their team like they did the year before. This obviously will cost them a lot, esp. with the luxury tax.
Other news, Brad Miller is going to the Rockets, Ronnie Brewer is a Bull.
What about ROLE PLAYER don't you understand
Sooooo you are saying that in the Conference Finals when he averaged 26.2 minutes per game (far cry from less than 10 minutes), shot 50% from downtown, 96% from charity stripe, and averaged 11.2 ppg that he played pitiful in the playoffs. All of that while not shooting more than 9 times in a game. He by far outplayed Vince Carter on both ends of the court against Boston. Carter averaged 13 PPG against Boston and never shot less than 9 in a game.
And for the record he only had 2 games with less than 10 minutes in 14 total playoff games and 3 of those games he shot only once. But it's not like he played in just one series. Better than sitting at home in the playoffs and watching it on TV.

I understand role player, do you understand championship player? A role player and a championship player are drastically different players. What about ROLE PLAYER don't you understand
